Tibi a Latona Family!
Read all about it!
We are delighted to announce that Camp Latona and the Vancouver Aquarium have come together to offer the ultimate camping experience! Campers will have the opportunity to spend time learning about marine bio-diversity, life-cycles and ecosystems in the natural salt and freshwater environments of the great outdoors.
Marine Explorer Campers will navigate the beautiful Howe Sound guided by the expertise of Vancouver Aquarium interpreters. At Camp, campers will learn teamwork, leadership and camping skills, under the guidance and talents of our team at Latona.
This unique camp will have campers kayaking along the coast exploring the diverse ecosystem present in Howe Sound. Campers will hike along the natural freshwater streams and reservoirs to explore the habitat of the indigenous newt and the witness the life cycle of creatures like our friendly frogs. Campers will learn sustainable camping, leave no trace ethics and build their respect for the environment. With Ziplines, life cycles, challenge courses, ecosystems and sustainability, and of course the oceanfront, campers will have a chance to see, hear, observe and experience it all.
During the week campers will participate in camp favourites including campfires and capture the flag; all with a marine twist. Campers will live in a traditional community cabin environment grouped by age and gender in the care of our trained camp staff. Safety as always is of top priority at Camp Latona and our staff have all undergone their criminal record checks and have actively participated in staff training and external certifications.
Through learning and playing in the natural environment, the Vancouver Aquarium and Camp Latona Marine Explorers program will teach lifelong skills of perseverance, respect, compassion and appreciation and awareness for the world around us.
Campers aged 7-15 are invited to join us at Camp Latona this summer for Marine Explorers in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium and their AquaCamps day camps team.
