The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of up to 12 groups on out trips at one time. Other duties will include providing educational support in wilderness camping to camp counsellors as well as the outdoor recreation program during camp sessions. Furthermore, the successful candidate will become a member of the resource team responsible for ensuring the overall quality of programming and adherence to safety standards at Camp Latona.
Preference will be given to applicants currently pursuing or recently completed their post secondary education. Fields of study recommended for this position are: education, recreation, physical education, social work, or forestry.
Applicants must be over 19 years of age and demonstrate:
Extensive knowledge of outdoor camping skills
Familiarity with minimum impact camping principles
Experience with proper care and maintenance of wilderness camping equipment
Prior work experience with youth between 7 – 16 years (preferred)
Responsible and mature attitude
Wilderness First Aid Certification an asset
All positions require a Criminal Record check and a current basic first aid certificate or the willingness to complete the course.
